The Kansas Beef Council (KBC) works with qualified ProStart programs to provide funds for classroom instruction to promote beef to future chefs and foodservice industry professionals.

These guidelines give the details for the program.

for Family & Consumer Science teachers

The Kansas Beef Council provides funds to F.A.C.S. classrooms throughout the state of Kansas.

The funds are made available to purchase beef products to teach beef cookery. In addition to the financial support, classrooms education materials are available free of charge to Family and Consumer Science teachers.

  

Program Guidelines

  1. Only beef may be purchased and used with F.A.C.S. classes only.
  2. Qualifying beef purchases include fresh, frozen or fully cooked beef cuts including steaks, roasts and ground beef. Examples of fully cooked products include pot roast, beef tips & gravy and BBQ beef.
  3. Receipts for beef purchases must be sent to the Kansas Beef Council in order to be eligible for funds the following year. Copies of receipts or originals are accepted.
  4. Applications must be submitted each year.
  5. Lesson plans must accompany receipts and application to document which cuts of beef were being utilized and how these products are being used in the curriculum.
  6. Any unused funds must be returned to the Kansas Beef Council to be eligible for next years program.
